E-book - Body Corporate Guide

Does the new Unit Titles Act 2010 affect you?

Click here for the first chapter and contents page of the ebook "Body Corporate Guide - An essential handbook for anyone who has anything to do with unit titles".

It is written by us and is a practical tool to help managers, owners, developers and others understand the opportunities and responsibilities created by the new act.  You can buy the ebook here.

Read more about how the new Act might affect you.   We have also created a group for discussion about unit titles in New Zealand.  If you'd like to join and contribute to the discussion click here.

If you are selling a unit title property, you must read our article about the new seller's disclosure regime.

Our last webinar on the Act was in late 2010.  We will be running more webinars on this topic.  If you wish to be informed about when they will be, click here.

You've found an apartment you want to buy, you want to know more about it but don't know where to start?

Apartments in New Zealand are generally built as unit title developments.  If you are thinking about buying an apartment there is a minefield of issues you ought to consider.  Click here for things to look out for.

Once you've found an apartment you like, you'll need to check out the body corporate rules, the supplementary record sheet (which records what is registered against the title for the common property), any interests that are registered against that title such as easements and the unit plan (which will show you the relevant unit entitlement).  To access these documents for FREE simply see the Apartment Complex Documents below.

Next to the apartment name you'll find a copy of the unit plan, the supplementary record sheet and the body corporate rules.  There may also be other information there which is relevant to describing the stratum estates, for example, sometimes unit title subdivisions are leasehold.
